Ranger Rick features Palmer Gentoos

We all know Palmer Penguins are famous, so is it any surprise to find them in the latest edition of the popular children’s magazine Ranger Rick?
The September issue features a 6-page story, “Greetings from Penguin-land” about the Gentoo penguins around Palmer Station. Including amazing photos by Chris Linder, the story features Palmer Co-PI Megan Cimino, and focuses on the research her team has done to measure the population growth of Gentoos around Palmer over the last several years. If you’re interested in learning more about this research, you can check out Megan’s latest article in Marine Ornithology.
Ranger Rick also posted a cool video Scientists Put a Camera on a Penguin! on their social media accounts. The clip includes a underwater camera footage collected by Megan that shows how a Gentoo penguin feeds on krill while swimming.
